2008 Pataskala Street Fair Parade

Pataskala Street Fair parade goes country

The annual Pataskala Street Fair Parade has a theme, "Down on the Farm."

"Since Licking County is celebrating its Bicentennial this year and since agriculture played a major role in the development of the county, we wanted an agricultural theme," explained Judy Baird, Pataskala resident and Rotary Club member. "Last March, property owners in the county who have owned their farms for at least 100 years were recognized by the Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District. The Rotary Club decided to have the century farmers from the Pataskala area as the grand marshals of the parade."

Howard Emswiler will provide a farm wagon for the grand marshals, and County Commissioner Doug Smith will pull the wagon with the Bicentennial truck.

The parade will kick off at noon Aug. 16. Line-up for most entries will take place at Foundation Park. Commercial entries will be charged $25 with a limit of two vehicles per entry. Candidates for office will be charged $35.
Bands from Licking Heights, Southwest Licking and Johnstown have committed to participate in the parade.
There is one new rule: Parade participants must hand out candy instead of tossing it.
Parade entry forms are available at The Bremen Bank, 700 Corylus Drive, All Ohio Title Agency, LLC, 26 W. Depot St. and Bruce J. Baird Realty, 325 W. Broad Street.
